Filled to Overflowing: Equipping the Saints and Caring for the Vulnerable in Jesus’ Name
Our Commitment to You: Every Penny Hits the Ground
Anointed to Serve: Rooted in the Promise of Psalm 23:5
Overflow Ministries is based on a verse in Psalm 23 that was strongly impressed on the organization’s founder, Theresa Smith, as she prepared to visit her long-term friend Helen in Zambia.
The verse “He prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies, He anoints my head with oil, my cup overflows…” (Ps 23:5) was later confirmed by the room she stayed in while in Zambia, room number 23.
Overflow Ministries believes He fills us to overflowing as stated in Ps 23:5 and that in Him, we have ALL we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). While we may be ill-equipped on our own, when we come to Him, He fills us—abundantly and to overflowing—to touch lives for His glory (John 10:10).
Our Mission Statement
Fulfilling the great commission, equipping the saints, advocating for the oppressed, and caring for orphans and widows through the meeting of practical needs, and sharing the knowledge of Him and His promises by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Overflow Ministries in action
Our mission work takes shape in various forms - leading two weekly Bible studies (at home and at work), writing two books (which are in the process), and using our influence to direct resources to the vast needs observed in Zambia.
The commitment by Overflow Ministries is to absorb all startup, administrative, maintenance, and transaction fees, so that we can confidently say to supporters that “every penny hits the ground.”
The challenges facing Zambia and its residents
Zambia is navigating a complex landscape of recovery and persistent structural hurdles. While the government has made strides in debt restructuring and economic stabilization, several significant challenges continue to impact the daily lives of Zambians and the country's growth trajectory.
As of late 2025/early 2026, roughly 60% of the Zambian population lives below the national poverty line, highlighting the massive scale of the social challenge ahead despite recent economic reforms.
May the Lord bless you in Jesus’ name
We welcome you to explore the various needs in Zambia as well as consider joining an outreach team someday, local Bible study, Saturday evening of worship in Oakfield, or reach out with prayer requests.
Our desire is not only to demonstrate our faith through action internationally, but also through strengthening the local body.
