Today, Love Looks Like Transportation

As one of my only earthly hero’s, Dr. Heidi Baker, says “love looks like something.”

In the last 24 hours love looked like a new-to-them vehicle for my Zambian friend Helen and her family. This vehicle is truly life changing for so many as it will be used for both personal and ministry needs.

This “looks like something” can be so risky because it requires action, and these actions can be risky.

When you love, you risk grief. You risk disappointment. You risk looking like a fool. You risk misunderstandings. Giving love will cost you emotionally, relationally, and sometimes financially.

But it’s worth it!

When I felt the Lord nudge me to “raise $10k for a vehicle” I honestly had a moment of hesitancy. What if it wasn’t there? What if I looked like a fool and it didn’t come through? 😬🫥🫠

Then He reminded me of some things that are between us and I felt the boldness arise to say aloud “we will raise $10,000 for a vehicle so Helen can continue the works she’s doing.” And as soon as those words left my mouth publicly I knew it would be done.

And you know what? It was there, twice that in fact, in a matter of days🥹🥳🙌

I remember thinking as a youth how Christianity was boring and a set of rules 🙄 I hate rules. I still do. Honest.

What I didn’t realize is I had mistaken Jesus for Christianity. A relationship for a religion.

Religion is boring. Religion is rules.

But relationship, an abiding relationship is exciting 🔥 It’s dynamic and ever changing. It’s risky and fulfilling. It gives life, purpose, and hope. It is in the context of a relationship that Jesus directs us to step out in faith to see funds raised, delivered, and lives directly impacted. There is nothing boring about that!

I don’t live my life out of the rules of religion. I can’t. I’d die. 😂

I live out of an internal conviction to love, from a person relationship with Jesus. When the Lord prompts me, I act, even when I’m afraid, because I trust Him and the fulfillment of each prompt brings encouragement.

“If you love me you will keep my commands…” John 14:15 (Jesus).

His commands are to love. Love God and love others, and that is not burdensome. It’s liberating.

When we surrender ourselves to Jesus, lives change—the lives around us in our day to day—and around the world.

Some of you will never go to Zambia or other places, yet you send your love by laboring in a 9-5 and giving when God prompts you.

For most of us, our love is best spent in our circle. It’s the people we rub elbows with every day at work, in the community, or at home, and it all matters. God will undoubtedly prompt us within those relationships, often in seemingly small ways, for a larger impact. He’s always whispering to redeem, restore, and reconcile, because He’s always working towards the increase of love (1 Cor 13:13).

A relationship with Jesus can’t help but manifest itself through love. It is the fulfillment of the law and all of the goals of religion, but it’s only found in Him. At times, it is risky, like I mentioned above—there is a cost to love—but it’s absolutely exhilarating to jump when He says and then let God catch you. Because when He speaks, He will act.

Love looks like something, and today, that something looks like a vehicle to continue to touch lives.

Thank you for loving Gods people with me and through me.
Thank you for trusting me.
Thank you for your support.

“However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”—
the things God has prepared for those who love him—
10 these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.” 1 Cor 2:9-10

I pray that whoever reads this finds God’s love and therefore true life, because life in Him is full of purpose.❤️
